Man charged in Walmart thefts across state

A Harrisonville man has been charged with stealing from multiple Walmart stores in Missouri, including the Jefferson City store on West Stadium Boulevard.

Charles Newton, 41, is charged in Cole County Court with three counts of felony stealing.

Newton allegedly stole several Dyson and Shark Robot vacuum cleaners, once in November and twice in January, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement. The total value of the items taken during the three thefts from the Jefferson City store was $1,264.

Court records show Newton has six prior convictions for stealing. He is the suspect in several Missouri Walmart theft cases including stores in Columbia, Boonville, Moberly, Marshall, Sedalia and the Kansas City area.

He was taken into custody in Carthage and was being held in the Jasper County Jail.
