Jefferson City man charged in Miller County stabbing case

A Jefferson City man has been arrested as a person of interest in a Miller County assault case.

Ryan Garvin, 23, is charged with two counts of felony first-degree assault, two counts of felony armed criminal action, and one count of felony first-degree robbery, according to a news release from the Miller County Sheriff's Office. He is being held in the Miller County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $300,000 bond.

Miller County deputies on April 26 responded to the St. Elizabeth area for an assault investigation involving a 21-year-old male resident of Taos, who had sustained a stab wound to the neck, according to the news release. Detectives later discovered the victim's vehicle had been taken after the assault.

After investigation, detectives identified Garvin as a person of interest in the case. With assistance from the Jefferson City Police Department and Cole County Sheriff's Office, Garvin was arrested on unrelated warrants and taken to the Miller County Sheriff's Office.
