James R. Dinkins, 26, of Versailles, was killed in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Morgan County.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said Donald R. Kempker, 24, of Jefferson City, was driving westbound at about 5:43 p.m. on Ritchie Road, about .7 miles east of Route T, when his vehicle lost traction on a curve.
Kempker over-corrected and the vehicle went off the left side of the road, striking a tree.
Kempker, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
Dinkins was flown by Staff of Life helicopter to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was pronounced dead.
It was not known whether Dinkins was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
