Jefferson City Public Schools announced Thursday that Amy Herrman will be the new principal of Jefferson City Academic Center.

Herrman will come to JCAC from being an assistant principal for the past eight years at Rolla High School.

The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals named her the 2015-16 school year's Assistant Principal of the Year for its south central regional district of the state, which includes the Chamois, Fatima, Gasconade County, Iberia, Linn, Maries County and Owensville school districts, among others.

Herrman also has 12 years of teaching experience - as a history teacher, according to Rolla High School's student newspaper.

Before working at Rolla High School, she served as a middle school administrative intern and safety director for Rolla Public Schools.

She will replace Deanne Fisher as JCAC's principal, as Fisher will be the principal of Jefferson City's Lewis and Clark Middle School beginning this fall.

Herrman will start her position with JCPS on July 1, according to a news release.
