After reopening following major repairs, the Russellville Pool held a Swimming Under the Stars event July 14.

The Russellville Pool reopened July 12 and held a Swimming Under the Stars event Saturday.

Between its Facebook donation campaign and donations given directly to the pool, volunteers raised more than the $5,000 goal to help fund needed repairs, which closed the pool in late June.

Donations came from current and former community members who use, have used or whose children have used the facility throughout the last 38 summers.

Volunteers also turned out July 4 for a work day, which reduced the overall project costs for labor.

The community pool now has new, heavy-duty pipes that run the entire length of the pool and into the pump house.

"We have had such a generous outpouring of both financial support and the help of physical labor that allowed us the ability to repair the leak quickly and correctly in order to get open and not have to shut down for the remainder of the summer," pool board President Jenifer Seaver said.

"There are and always will be repairs that need to be made, and many tend to be costly. We are hoping with the outpouring of support and interest we've received through all of this that we will be able to find new ways to fund our hometown pool, either through fundraisers or grants or both."
