Jefferson City has contracted with Musselman and Hall Contractors to seal-coat various streets as part of its annual street maintenance program, according to a city news release.
The streets affected include:
The seal-coat process includes applying two coats of specialty oils to the pavement surface to seal cracks and extend the life of the pavement. Once applied, the oils will need to cure prior to traffic being returned to the area. The application and cure process is estimated to take one to three hours depending on weather conditions.
When working in residential areas, the contractor will close sections of streets to all traffic as the seal is applied. Residents will be notified prior to the day the work is planned on their street.
When working in commercial areas and/or on arterial streets, the contractor will conduct lane closures and traffic flagging operations during the sealing process.
The project is scheduled to begin July 23. It is estimated all work areas will be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.
