2 teens seriously injured in Cole County crash

Two Jefferson City teenagers were seriously injured Monday afternoon in a single-car crash on Henwick Lane in Cole County.

A 16-year-old boy was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus westbound on Henwick when, at about 12:40 p.m. and 500 feet past Deer Ridge, the car traveled off the right side of the road and hit two mailboxes, an embankment and a tree before coming to rest.

Neither the 16-year-old nor a 14-year-old boy, who was a passenger, were wearing seat belts.

The 16-year-old was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia, while the younger boy also was taken there by Cole County Ambulance.
