Miller County Fair beginning soon

The week-long Miller County Fair is returning to Eldon, featuring a parade, live music, livestock exhibits, truck and tractor pulls, FFA and 4-H contests, and much more.

The Miss Miller County and Miss Miller County Teen Scholarship pageants will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 23 at the Eldon High School Performing Arts Center.

Festivities will kick off July 24 with the parade, which begins at 6:15 p.m. after a 5 p.m. line-up on Second Street behind the Eldon High School gymnasium. The parade will be followed by carnival rides and the compact figure 8 race. For information on the race, contact Jacob Wood of Lucky 7’s Promotions LLC at 573-375-1717.

The market hogs and steers will weigh in the morning of July 25. The hog show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Children ages 4-7 from Miller and adjoining counties will compete in the Little Royalty Contest at 6:30 p.m. on the fairground grandstand stage. Helen Russell & Company will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. The Sleeper Lawn Tractor Pulling Association’s lawn and garden tractor pull will begin at 8 p.m.

The youth livestock judging contest begins 10 a.m. July 26. The greased pig race starts at 6 p.m., followed by the beef show at 6:30 p.m. and the stock and tractor pull at 7 p.m.

On July 27, the rabbit show will begin at 9 a.m., the poultry show at 11 a.m. and livestock auction buyers dinner at 5 p.m., followed by the livestock auction at 6:30 p.m. The demolition derby will start at 7 p.m., when the livestock exhibits will be released.

The fair will conclude at 7 p.m. July 28 with the return of Glory Days Rodeo, which will hold barrel racing and rough stock events like mutton busting, calf and bull riding.

The Lions Club and 4-H will offer concessions, such as pulled-pork dinners, quarter-pound hamburgers, bratwursts, hot dogs and pizza.
