The first stage of a resurfacing, sidewalk and pedestrian improvement project on Business 54 in Fulton is scheduled to begin Monday.
The $3.7 million project is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Transportation and the city of Fulton. The project includes resurfacing of Business 54 from Route H to U.S. 54 on the north side of Fulton, as well as sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act pedestrian upgrades along Business 54. The improvement work also includes resurfacing Silver Drive (54 West Outer Road).
Sidewalk and ADA improvements are part of this first stage of the project. Motorists can expect lane closures on Business 54 during daytime hours as work progresses. This work is expected to be completed by December.
The second stage of the project is scheduled to begin in October and includes night resurfacing of Business 54. This is scheduled to take place 7 p.m.-7 a.m. each day. One lane of Business 54 will be open at all times, and crews will flag motorists through the work areas. Silver Drive also will be resurfaced during this stage.
Aplex Inc., of Linn, is the prime contractor for this project.
