Drug busts yield 3 arrests in Moniteau County

Three people have been charged in connection with two recent drug busts in Moniteau County.

Two people were arrested Monday following a vehicle stop in Tipton on a report of suspicious activity.

Authorities searched the vehicle and found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested were Roberto Oropeza, 23, of Russellville, and Kathryn Swafford, 40, of Tipton, both for possession of a controlled substance.

On Tuesday, one person was arrested following a vehicle stop west of California on Business 50 for a registration violation.

As the deputy was stopping the vehicle, he saw an object being thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway.

The deputy found marijuana inside the vehicle. The deputy also retrieved the item thrown from the vehicle and found it contained methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Two of the three subjects inside the vehicle were released with summons for possession of marijuana and traffic tickets. The third subject, Andres Aguero, 32, of California, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
