Inmate dies at Jefferson City Correctional Center

An autopsy has been ordered after an inmate died July 4 at the Jefferson City Correctional Center.

Corrections officials said Joshua Black, 27, was pronounced dead at approximately 6 p.m.

Black was serving a five-year prison sentence for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle; delivery or manufacture of imitation controlled substance; resisting/interfering with arrest; and resisting arrest by fleeing-create risk of injury/death, from Callaway County, as well as violence to an employee of the Department of Corrections or an inmate by an inmate and second-degree assault, from Moniteau County.

Black had been in prison since February 2015.
