A Jefferson City man is facing criminal charges after a foot chase with authorities Thursday night.
Mitchell Mason, 20, is charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
Mason was wanted for questioning after a theft at Dillards at Capital Mall and also had a warrant out for his arrest, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.
He was spotted walking in the 1400 block of East Elm Street and refused to stop for officers.
Several officers responded to the area, and eventually Mason began to run from them.
Mason ran northbound onto U.S. 50/63, forcing vehicles to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting him.
He eventually was taken into custody, and officers found he was in possession of a stolen firearm.
