P&Z approves new Missouri Soybean offices

The Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission approved a new office building for the Missouri Soybean Association.

The Missouri Soybean Association applied to rezone almost 5 acres at 734 South Country Club Drive, owned by the Cole County Anhydrous Association, from RS-1 Low Density Residential to a Planned Unit Development so the Missouri Soybean Association can construct a 14,000-square-foot commercial office building.

Gary Wheeler, CEO and executive director of Missouri Soybean Association, said they want to relocate because they outgrew their current location at 3337 Emerald Lane.

Along with the single-story building, the preliminary PUD plan states the company wants to construct a 400-square-foot standalone conference room and 3,000-square-foot storage building.

City staff recommended the commission approve the plan and rezoning proposal as it would fit with the surrounding zoning use, which is mostly low density residential zoning. The application notes the Missouri Farm Bureau, also zoned PUD, is near the property.

It will go to the Jefferson City Council for approval Feb. 19.
