There is now a three-way race for the Jefferson City Council 5th Ward seat.
Ashley Jones-Kaufman filed for the seat Friday but could not be reached for comment by publication time.
Jon Hensley and Jim Crabtree filed for the 5th Ward seat last month after Ward 5 Councilman Larry Henry announced he would not seek re-election in 2018.
Ward 1 Councilman Rick Prather, Ward 2 Councilman Rick Mihalevich, Ward 3 Councilwoman Erin Wiseman and Ward 4 Councilman Ron Fitzwater are seeking re-election this April. No one has filed to run against them currently.
Filing for City Council seats is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Tuesday.
Candidates need three endorsements from registered voters in the ward they want to serve before filing. Candidates must also fill out a Missouri Department of Revenue Form 5120 and sign it before a notary. They must file the form with the Department of Revenue and provide the city with a copy of it.
After the forms are verified, candidates must complete a declaration of candidacy form at City Hall, 320 E. McCarty St.
