Maries County official charged with DWI

A Maries County elected official was arrested for DWI in Osage County.

Osage County Sheriff's Department reports show, Carol Schulte, 57, of a Meta, is the public administrator of Maries County.

Her arrest took place Monday morning near Argyle at Route T and Route AA. This was her first offense.

Schulte's arrest occurred while members of the Osage County Sheriff's Office were participating in the statewide New Year's DWI campaign.

During the campaign, Osage County deputies made 29 traffic stops, recovered a stolen vehicle, made two drug-related arrests and made one DWI arrest, Schulte's.

The drug-related arrests were for Zachary Kirksey, 19, of Freeburg, who was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and Davian Tanner, 24, of Freeburg, who was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.
