No one was hurt in a house fire Thursday morning in Jefferson City.
A 911 call was received for a house fire in the 2200 block of Oakview Drive around 8:47 a.m. Thursday, according to fire department reports.
As fire crews responded to the scene, they reported seeing heavy smoke from several blocks away.
The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure. Fire officials confirmed no one was still inside the structure.
The fire was brought under control within a few minutes; but it took longer to completely extinguish the flames, as the fire had gotten into the attic space of the home.
This fire appears to be accidental, started on or near an electric blanket on the porch addition to the rear of the home, fire officials said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the homeowner with whatever needs they may have.
