HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. — A disturbance Sunday involving a weapon led to the arrest of a Holts Summit man, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said.

Deputies arrested Donald Spears, 54, of Holts Summit and he was charged with felony "unlawful use of a weapon motivated by discrimination." Spears later posted a court-set bond of $25,000 and was released pending court appearance.

A disturbance involving a firearm was reported at 12:27 a.m. Sunday in the Winterwood neighborhood, located just outside of Holts Summit. During the investigation, a firearm was recovered and Spears was identified as the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming. The Holts Summit Police Department assisted with the scene investigation.

Spears is awaiting trial in Callaway District Court on charges of abuse or neglect of a child, a felony, filed July 31. That trial will be at 9 a.m. April 25.
