Traffic incident leads to drug arrest

Osage County sheriff's deputies checking on a stranded motorist Friday evening led to an arrest on U.S. 50 near County Road 608.

The man turned out to be a suspected criminal.

Deputies stopped to check on a commercial vehicle that broke down, and in the course of their investigation, identified the driver as William Allen, 51, of Greenwood, who had been driving with a suspended driver's license and also had active arrest warrants from Lee Summit and the Troop A area.

Allen was also in possession of methamphetamine, plus a schedule 4 narcotic, Tramadol Hydrochloride, without a valid prescription. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Osage County Jail.
