Icy roads cause several Mid-Missouri accidents Sunday

The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to several Mid-Missouri accidents Sunday afternoon due to icy road conditions.

One person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 1:40 p.m. in Morgan County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Missouri 52 westbound, just west of East Marvin Road.

Nicole Williams, 28, of Eldon, lost traction and west off the right side of the road. She then struck a concrete curb and fence before coming to a stop.

Williams was treated for minor injuries.

Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 2:12 p.m. in Cole County.

Patrol reports show this occurred on U.S. 54 westbound, just west of Old Bass Road.

Deaudrena Vaughn, 21, of Springfield, lost control on the icy road and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Joyce Kagogo, 20, of Springfield.

Vaughn had no reported injuries, but Kagogo was treated for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Four people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 2:20 p.m. in Cole County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Route B, just south of Schulte Lane.

Dwight Papunta, 39, of Meta, slid into the path of a vehicle driven by Taylor Pritchett, 23, of Wardsville, causing the vehicles to strike head-on.

Papunta and one of his passengers, Frank Papunta, 41, of Centertown, were treated for moderate injuries. Another passenger, Robert Papunta, 15, of Meta, was treated for minor injuries. Pritchett was treated for moderate injuries.

All involved were wearing seat belts.

One person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 3 p.m. in Cole County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on U.S. 54 eastbound, just west of Shepherd Hills Road.

David Loggins, 32, of Jefferson City, began to slide and overcorrected, causing him to travel into the ditch. He was wearing a seat belt and was treated for minor injuries.

One person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 3 p.m. in Callaway County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Route FF, a half-mile west of U.S. 54.

Roy Cameron, 50, of Rolla, went off the right side of the road, went over an embankment and struck a culvert. He was wearing a seat belt and was treated for serious injuries.

Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 3:20 p.m. in Moniteau County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on U.S. 50 Eastbound at Route H.

Nickie Cooper, 26, of California, was traveling south on Route H and failed to stop for a stop sign. Gilberto Hurtado, 56, of California, then struck Cooper's vehicle on U.S. 50.

Cooper had no reported injuries. Hurtado and one of his passengers, Iri Almazon, 17, of California, were treated for minor injuries, while Hurtado's wife, Celia, 50, was treated for moderate injuries.

All involved were wearing seat belts.
