A rematch at the red kettles is on tap today.

Bernie Fechtel, president of Fechtel Beverage, is challenging Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe to a Red Kettle Ring-Off rematch to raise funds for the Salvation Army red kettle campaign.

The event takes place from 9.30 a.m.-10.30 a.m. at Hy-Vee on West Truman Boulevard.

Last year, Fechtel and then-state Sen. Kehoe raised a combined $12,407, which helped the overall kettle campaign exceed its 2017 goal. Though Kehoe won the contest, the two men declined to say how much each other raised saying it was a joint victory.

The 2018 Red Kettle Campaign has so far raised $169,000 or just under 60 percent of the $288,000 goal.
