JCPD: Electronic bomb threat not credible

Jefferson City police said they received one report of a bomb threat believed to be connected with fake threats sent out Thursday across the country.

The police department's 911 center reported a call for a bomb threat at 12:41 p.m. Thursday at Missouri Forest Products Association, 505 E. State St.

Authorities said this was one in a series of electronic bomb threats reported from a wide variety of institutions and organizations across the nation.

The threats were delivered by emails, which said a bomb was inside the building and would be set off unless a payment of $20,000 in bitcoin was paid. In each case, the threats were found to be not credible.
