Haul out the holly! Join the many Jefferson City residents who annually invest hours of hard work decorating their homes for Christmas.

It would be a blue Christmas without a drive past the beautifully decorated homes of Joan Firley, Max Cook, Roy Johnson and all the others. West Main Street, Moreau Drive, Eastland Drive and virtually all areas of the city are like walking in a winter wonderland.

Friday is the deadline to enter the 33rd annual Christmas Home Decorating Contest and Tour of Lights sponsored by the Jefferson City Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, News Tribune, and Cottonstone Art Gallery and Frame Shop. You may hand-deliver ballots to the Parks Department, at 1299 Lafayette St., or call the department at 573-634-6482 by Friday to enter.

You may anonymously list your home on the Tour of Lights Map in Tuesday's News Tribune newspaper.

To compete for an award, the categories are: the Clark Griswold Award, the Charlie Brown Award, the Norman Rockwell Award, the O Holy Night Award, the TV Christmas Classics, the Best Business Lights Display, or simply be included in the Noncompetitive Lights Tour only.
