Three Jefferson City men have been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning.

Andrew Dixson, 27, Jamel Sutton, 20, and Cortez Burton, 18, are each charged with one count of first-degree robbery.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements say the robbery occurred in the 1600 block of East Elm Street.

The victim told police he was walking to his home when a vehicle, driven by Sutton, stopped next to him.

Dixson and Burton got out of the vehicle, hitting the victim with a car door.

Burton allegedly went through the victim's pockets while Dixson held a gun on the victim.

The three men fled the area, but they were eventually picked up by officers in the 300 block of Tanner Bridge Court.

The victim identified the three as being involved in the robbery. Burton and Dixson denied any involvement in the robbery, while Sutton did admit his role and gave a detailed account of the incident.

Court records show Sutton has been on probation for a prior armed robbery conviction in 2016. Court records also show Burton has a history of violence and a recent conviction for assault while Dixson has prior convictions for stealing, assault and resisting arrest.
