Plane makes emergency landing in Cole County

A plane made an emergency landing late Monday morning in the southern part of Cole County, Sheriff John Wheeler confirmed.

The first calls about the incident came around 11:20 a.m., when a passerby said he believed he had seen a plane go down, according to Sheriff's Department reports.

The plane landed on property in the 10300 block of Scrivner Road.

Firefighters with the Russellville/Lohman Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene and found the cockpit door of the plane open. Eventually they located the pilot, who had exited the plane and reported he had no injuries.

The pilot told authorities he had to set the plane down quickly due to a loss of oil pressure.
