Once again, Missouri's sales tax holiday will take place this weekend.
From 12:01 a.m. Friday through midnight Sunday, the state's 4.225 percent sales tax will not be collected on sales of items like clothing, school supplies and computers that qualify as back-to-school purchases.
Several Mid-Missouri cities and counties, though, including Jefferson City and Cole and Callaway counties, do not participate in the sales tax holiday - meaning local sales taxes will be enforced.
Other Mid-Missouri counties not participating in the tax-free weekend include Moniteau, Morgan and Osage. Local sales taxes also will be charged in Centertown, Holts Summit, California, Eldon, Taos, Chamois, Meta, St. Elizabeth, Owensville, Osage Beach, Bland, Camdenton, Laurie, Sedalia, Boonville and Kingdom City.
Columbia, Ashland and Boone County will also not participate in the tax-free weekend.
The following items are exempt from Missouri's sales tax Friday through Sunday, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue:
Clothing - any article with a taxable value of $100 or less.
School supplies - not to exceed $50 per purchase.
Computer software - taxable value of $350 or less.
Personal computers - not to exceed $1,500.
Computer peripheral devices - not to exceed $1,500.
Graphing calculators - not to exceed $150.
