HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. - Law enforcement officials are investigating the death of a man near Holts Summit as a homicide, according to a news release from Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism.

The victim's name is being withheld while next-of-kin are notified and the investigation continues, Chism said.

Deputies were called at 1:39 a.m. Friday to the 10700 block of Platinum Drive just outside Holts Summit to conduct a death investigation. Holts Summit Police Department officers also responded.

Upon arriving at 1:50 a.m., deputies and officers entered the residence and found a deceased man, Chism stated. Further investigation, including an autopsy conducted by the Boone/Callaway County Medical Examiner's Office, led to classification of the case as a homicide.

The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad will assist with the investigation.
