An Auxvasse man was arrested Thursday for multiple charges including assaulting an officer during the process, Lt. Curtis Hall of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office said.

Keith Lancaster, 33, was charged Friday with third- and fourth-degree domestic assault, second-degree property damage, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while revoked, possession of marijuana, interference with legal process and fourth-degree assault.

Deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash and domestic disturbance at 11:04 p.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of State Road E near Auxvasse, according to a press release. Missouri Highway Patrol officers also responded to the scene.

While investigating, deputies determined Lancaster had used his vehicle to force another vehicle off the road, Hall said. Lancaster then stopped his own vehicle and fled on foot.

Deputies searched the surrounding area for Lancaster. He was uncooperative when located, Hall said. Lancaster was initially arrested for felony driving while intoxicated, with the other charges being added later.

Deputies obtained a search warrant to test Lancaster's blood and brought him to a local hospital, where he struggled against nurses' attempts to obtain a sample, Hall said.

"In the process, Lancaster assaulted several officers by kicking them," he added. "Lancaster bit the finger of a Fulton Police Department officer (who) responded to the hospital to assist deputies."

According to information on Missouri Casenet, Lancaster has been convicted in the past for driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked/suspended license.

His bond was set at $40,000.
