Jefferson City man charged in burglary

September 22nd, 2017 in Local News

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a burglary that occurred in August.

Jayvon Lysius, 23, is charged with first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows the incident occurred at an apartment on Scott Station Road.

Residents said Lysius came to the apartment looking for an individual who lived there but was not at home.

Lysius pushed his way into the apartment and was in possession of a rifle. When he couldn't find the person, Lysius began to walk out and took a PlayStation 4 game console belonging to the person he had been looking for.

Another resident said Lysius had been to the apartment three times looking for this individual. The individual later told authorities Lysius believed he had stolen a safe from Lysius' apartment. The individual denied taking anything.
