Crimestoppers reward offered in Jefferson City jewelry store robbery

Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers is offering reward of $500 for information leading to an arrest in relation to a robbery from Kay Jewelers in Capital Mall just after 1 p.m. Sept. 14.

Police reported a female store clerk was showing a piece of jewelry to a male customer, who threw something into the clerk's eyes. He then fled the area with the jewelry.

Jefferson City police say the suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his 50s, about 5-foot-9 or 5-foot 10, of thin build but with a pot belly, roughly 180-190 pounds. He has a 1- to 2-inch afro hairstyle, with black hair that has spots of grey. He also had a short, black goatee and a defined jaw line. He was wearing white-wash denim jeans and a white button-up shirt with a "C" logo with white dots or lines as a background.
