Two injured in Jefferson City accident

Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Jefferson City.

Police reports show emergency crews were dispatched at 3:37 p.m. to a head-on crash in the 2500 block of West Main Street in which one vehicle then went off the roadway and overturned.

The investigation revealed a vehicle driven by Heather Horn, 29, of Jefferson City, was eastbound on West Main when it passed another eastbound vehicle in a curve while approaching a slight hillcrest in the roadway. After Horn passed the eastbound vehicle, she sideswiped a westbound vehicle driven by Lula Ecute, 41, of Jefferson City.

Horn continued, now travelling eastbound in the westbound lane, and struck a vehicle driven by Margaret Kremer, 80, of Jefferson City, nearly head on. After hitting Kremer, Horn's vehicle went off the north side of the roadway onto the property of 2506 West Main St., where it began to overturn and also damaged landscaping on that property.

Horn was found lying on the ground near her vehicle, which had come to rest facing south on its passenger side. West Main was closed between Jaycee Drive and Belair Drive for about 90 minutes while the scene was investigated and cleaned of vehicle debris.

Kremer was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Horn was taken from the scene by ambulance, then flown to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries. Ecute and three passengers in her vehicle had no reported injuries.
