The ambulance calls involving children in both Moniteau and Morgan counties were addressed briefly at the regular monthly meeting of the Mid-Mo Ambulance District Board Oct. 11. Administrator Lee Kempf commented that it is very unusual to have so many calls involving children, especially in such a short period of time.
Kempf said all of the responding agencies in both Moniteau and Morgan counties seemed to work well together on all of the cases. He then discussed making improvements, so that all the agencies come together even more to work as a team.
The board approved the amended budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year. The budget presented last month had to be amended, using the actual figures as of the end of the fiscal year Sept. 30. The true ending balance of the 2016-17 fiscal year was down about $20,000 from the proposed amount. The projected funds for 2017-18 are $3,194,229.87. That leaves a reserve of $46,029.87. Kempf said this is a tight budget.
Other business
The treasurer's report showed a balance of funds on-hand of $331,229.87.
Run statistics for September were: Tipton, 50 calls with 25 transports; California, 72 calls, 47 transports; Versailles, 169 calls, 117 transports; and Barnett, 28 calls, 14 transports. District-wide, there were 319 calls with 203 transports for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 71.2 percent.
Run statistics for 2016-17 fiscal year, which ended Oct. 1, were: Tipton, 503 calls with 395 transports; California, 883 calls, 530 transports; Versailles, 2,101 calls, 1,389 transports; and Barnett, 123 calls, 77 transports. District-wide, there were 3,710 calls with 2,391 transports for a transport rate for the fiscal year on patient contact calls of 74.8 percent.
Board member Brad Stuedle presented the board with information concerning the Buckle up/Phone Down challenge campaign, sponsored by the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety and MoDOT. The board accepted Stuedle's request that the district be a part of the program that tackles driver safety.
The next regular meeting is set for Nov. 8 at the Tipton district office.
