If you like trains and want to help out a worthy cause, today is your lucky day.

The Trunk or Treat Fundraiser for Shriners hospitals begins at noon at the O.C. Railroad, 5018 Elston Road.

According to owner Randy Hackman, they plan on running just one or two trains from around noon-4 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m., the line starts for the Trunk or Treat, and the event will begin around 4 or 5 p.m. until the line stops at 7 p.m.

Once the younger children go through, Hackman said they will stop for about an hour and change over to their haunted theme, which will go from 9 p.m.- 1:30 a.m. Hackman also said they will have hot dogs, chips, soda, water, cider and hot chocolate for purchase, and pumpkins and squash will also be for sale.

If you are interested in buying any of the animatronics or decorations from Spirit Halloween, Hackman said you can do so after the event by talking with the fundraiser's sponsors.

The cost is $3 per adult; children under age 10 are free. All proceeds go to Shriner's Hospitals.

If you can't come and still want to donate, go to shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate.

Hackman added backpacks, large purses and coolers are not allowed on the property, and private security and members of the Cole County Sheriffs Department will be on hand during the event.
