Jefferson City 15-year-old injured in truck-scooter accident Monday

One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Cole County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred at 4 p.m. on Route C just east of Zion Road.

Donald Belt Jr., 43, of Syracuse, swerved onto the right shoulder to avoid a slowing vehicle in front him. He was pulling a trailer with his pickup truck, and the trailer struck Damen Bauridl, 15, of Jefferson City, as Belt attempted to overtake Bauridl, who was riding a scooter, on the westbound shoulder. Baurdil overturned and was ejected from the scooter.

Belt had no reported injuries, but Bauridl was treated for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their safety devices.

One person was hurt in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Miller County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred at 4:44 p.m. on Missouri 87 at Boulder Road.

Sherrie Cochran, 53, of Eldon, had stopped to make a left turn and was struck in the rear by Estanislado Balderas, 44, of California. Balderas then was struck in the rear by Rick Worthey, 18, of California.

Balderas and Worthy had no reported injuries, but Cochran was treated for minor injuries. All drivers were wearing seat belts.

Balderas was later arrested for felony driving while suspended.
