Holiday Mart at Millbottom will lend festive air to fundraising

Organizers of the Millbottom Holiday Mart hope to raise money for good causes, when the new event brings holiday cheer and holiday shopping to Jefferson City.

Proceeds from admission will benefit the Special Learning Center and iServe Global.

Organizer Rachel Hays said the goal is to make the event a yearly tradition in Jefferson City.

"We plan to make this a signature holiday fundraising event and watch it grow for the years ahead," Hays said.

Hays said the goal also includes helping out two new organizations each year.

The event will run from 4:30-9 p.m. Nov. 9 at The Millbottom, 400 W. Main St. in Jefferson City.

More than 30 vendors will sell home decor, clothing and beauty products. Tickets cost $5.

The Special Learning Center helps children and provides services for children with developmental delays and disabilities. Jefferson City-based iServe Global provides volunteers and supports service projects, missions and communities across the world.

The Capital City Festival of Lights will bring a Christmas tree to set the mood, and craft vendors will be on hand. Other vendors will sell food and drinks. Vendors include Canterbury Hill Winery, The Dude Company and Rustic Junction, among others.

All proceeds from ticket sales, a Hy-Vee Sweet Shop booth, McAlister's Deli tea booth and a charity raffle will go to the Special Learning Center and iServe Global.

Organizers ask attendees to park in state office parking lots across West Main Street and West High Street. Other parking is available in a lot just west of The Millbottom and in the nearby St. Peter's Catholic Church parking lots.

The Millbottom's main parking lot will be used for outdoor vendors and the Capital City Festival of Lights display.

Tickets can be bought with cash only. Some vendors will take cash and electronic payments, while others will take only cash.
