The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors approved its 2018 budget Monday.
The CVB expects almost $1.2 million in revenue next year, about $40,000 more than the 2017 approved budget. The 2017 budget revenue was slightly over $1.15 million.
The biggest anticipated revenue source in 2018 is the old Missouri State Penitentiary. The CVB expects to make $535,000 - over 7 percent more than in 2017 - from prison tour ticket sales. It also anticipates $26,000 in revenue from MSP Museum admission, about $11,000 more than in 2017.
MSP also is listed as one of the CVB's highest expenses. The CVB anticipates spending over $390,000 on MSP tour expenses, employee wages, marketing, capital improvements and the museum, among other things.
The expected total expenses for the 2018 year are almost $1.2 million, just over $40,000 more than last year.
CVB Executive Director Diane Gillespie will present the 2018 budget to the Jefferson City Finance Committee on Nov. 9 and the Jefferson City Council on Nov. 20.
