Wardsville man running for state rep

Rudy Veit, of Wardsville, has launched his bid for state representative of Missouri's 59th District.

The 59th District seat will be open in November 2018, as Rep. Mike Bernskoetter will have served the eight years allowed by law.

"I have been involved in our community for decades, but politics is new to me," Veit said in a news release. "Because of this, I thought it was important to start my campaign on the right foot and really focus on speaking directly with constituents about what they want from their next representative. Serving the community as an elected official is a job I take very seriously, and I intend to earn the position."

Veit is president of Carson & Coil PC, where he has been a partner since 1983. He has served with many organizations over several decades, including the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Commission, Special Olympics Missouri and the American Heart Association.

Veit also has worked with a number of local government entities as their attorney, including the cities of Taos and Meta, Public Water District 4, and the Blair Oaks School District.

Veit and his wife, Jeri, have four children and six grandchildren.
