JC water plant makes EPA marks

Missouri American Water officials announced Monday the latest water quality data show the company's Jefferson City water treatment facility meets or exceeds all EPA water guidelines.

The company's 2016 Water Quality Reports are accessible online at amwater.com/moaw/water-quality/water-quality-reports, as well as via printed copies that can be mailed to customers.

Also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, this report compares the quality of water supplied by Missouri American against standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and enforced by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The report describes local drinking water sources and shares test results, including all substances detected in the water and their levels.

Missouri American treatment plants are members of the Partnership for Safe Water. The partnership is a national voluntary initiative developed by the EPA and other water organizations to recognize water suppliers that consistently achieve water treatment standards that surpass EPA requirements. Fewer than 1 percent of water utilities in the United States have achieved this recognition. Five of the company's treatment plants recently received 15-year Director's Awards from the Partnership, while the Jefferson City plant is expected to reach that mark next year.

In addition to online access, customers can ask for a hard copy to be mailed to them by contacting customer service at 1- 866-430-0820.
