Area woman faces meth charge

A Belle woman has been charged with delivery of methamphetamine in Cole County.

Kelley Mayer, 50, is also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers contacted Mayer while she was in her car at a gas station the 1200 block of Missouri Boulevard on May 16 after discovering she had an active municipal warrant, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

As she was talking with officers, it appeared she was trying to conceal something. She refused to stop and was taken into custody.

When questioned, she admitted to trying to hide a methamphetamine pipe in the car. Officers searched the vehicle and found the pipe along with eight separately packaged plastic bags with a white, crystal-like substance which turned out to be methamphetamine.

Court records show Mayer has several past drug charges and was on probation for possession of a controlled substance at the time of her arrest.
