HCJ sets presentation on historic district

The Historic City of Jefferson will host an upcoming presentation, titled "Looking to the Past to Imagine the Future: Exploring the Past, Present and Future of a Revitalized Capitol Avenue Historic District," on April 18.

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with an open house at 100 Lafayette St., where owner Tom Scheppers is working to transform the historic property into a mixed-use building with a restaurant.

From 5-6 p.m., five students from the University of Missouri Department of Architectural Studies will display their architectural and interior design visions for 100 Lafayette St.

From 6-7 p.m., historian Gary Kremer will give a presentation titled "Prison Labor in the Capitol Avenue District" at Avenue HQ, 621 E. Capitol Ave.
