This Fourth of July holiday, the Jefferson City Police Department will increase staffing levels significantly, both throughout the community and in areas that center around Independence Day festivities.

In particular, additional officers will patrol downtown and in Jefferson City north of the Missouri River.

JCPD officials ask that all festival-goers exercise patience and comply with all traffic direction and parking rules during the events.

The discharging of fireworks within the city limits is prohibited, and no fireworks of any kind are permitted on the Jefferson City Memorial Airport property.

JCPD will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies during the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which goes from Friday through July 4.
