Two arrested in separate Moniteau County drug busts

Moniteau County authorities made two more drug-related arrests this week in separate incidents.

On Thursday, deputies arrested a woman who allegedly was using a squirrel to hide drugs.

Deputies found the squirrel in a cage with drugs in a home near the 300 block of South East Street in California. The deputies arrested Bobbi Jo Waggoner-Wolverton, 42, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Sheriff Tony Wheatley said the squirrel was unharmed and released after the Missouri Department of Conservation was notified.

Waggoner-Wolverton was placed on a 24-hour hold.

Also on Thursday, deputies arrested a California woman on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities found methamphetamines in the car of Chloe Heather, 25, following a traffic stop. Deputies requested a K-9 unit during the stop, which detected drugs in the car.

Heather was placed a on 24-hour hold.
