AUXVASSE, Mo. - Two Auxvasse residents were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop a stolen ATV, according to Lt. Curtis hall of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
Harold Smith, 53, and Sandra Montcalm, 48, were arrested about 3:10 p.m. in the 800 block of County Road 245. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies determined Smith, the driver of the ATV, had a revoked license. A check of the vehicle identification number for the ATV determined it was reported stolen earlier in the month from an address outside of Auxvasse.
Montcalm, a passenger on the ATV, was arrested for a unrelated theft from Auxvasse, which was investigated by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office on June 7.
Smith was charged with driving while revoked (felony) and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. He was placed in the county jail where he remains pending the posting of a $6,000 bond.
Montcalm was charged with first-degree stealing. She was released from the Callaway County Jail pending court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges could be forthcoming.
