Six hurt in four area accidents Saturday

A rollover crash early Saturday morning in Callaway County sent a Fulton man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Evans Riley, 37, was driving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid at 3:20 a.m. on U.S. 54 eastbound, about a quarter mile east of Old U.S. 54, when the vehicle began to slide. The sedan slid off the left side of the roadway, struck the ground and overturned.

Riley was wearing a seatbelt, but still had to taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for serious injuries. The Intrepid was extensively damaged.

About half an hour later, Ena Vranjkovina, 29, of St. Louis, was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant on Interstate 70 westbound. At 3:48 a.m. at mile marker 143 in Callaway County, Vranjkovina swerved to miss a deer and struck the median cable.

She was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. She was picked up and taken to Boone Hospital by private conveyance. Her car sustained moderate damaged.

A husband and wife couple, from Columbia, were ejected from a motorcycle in a Boone County crash at 10:48 a.m. Saturday.

Randy Easton, 49, was driving a 2016 Indian Chief Darkhorse with his wife Angela Easton, 42, when he attempted to make a right turn onto Liberty Lane from U.S. 63 southbound.

He lost control of the motorcycle, which caused the bike to overturn and throw the couple from it. He suffered minor injuries, and her's were moderate. Both were taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage.

A woman from Hallsville and her male passenger from Sturgeon were involved in a Boone County crash at 9:10 p.m.

Morgann Simpson, 26, was driving a 1996 Volvo 850 on U.S. 63 southbound with Derrick Petty, 28, as a passenger. At Hinton Road, the sedan went off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

Although the vehicle was totaled and neither Petty nor Simpson were wearing seatbelts, he suffered minor injuries and she moderate. He refused medical treatment and she was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
