Two arrested in California for drug charges

Two people were arrested Tuesday on drug charges at Proctor Park in California.

Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports show deputies were on routine patrol and observed suspicious activity inside the park.

They found a vehicle occupied by Roxanne Mowrey, 41, of Latham, and Edgar Walters, 40, of California, and later learned Walters had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Moniteau County for failure to appear in court. Deputies also found Walters was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and he was taken into custody.

A K-9 unit responded to the scene to check the vehicle, and deputies recovered more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Deputies then took Mowrey into custody and transported she and Walters to the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office.

Mowrey and Walters face charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
