The second annual Empty Bowls event benefiting The Salvation Army is a week away.

The soup luncheon and tasting features soups, breads and desserts from local restaurants and stores, and participants will leave with a unique bowl hand-glazed by a local artist or volunteer.

Empty Bowls is set for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 1 at Windstone Entertainment Center, 2425 Industrial Drive. Tickets cost $20 and are available at The Salvation Army, Hy-Vee, Schulte's Fresh Foods and Schnucks in Jefferson City.

Soups to be served will come from Domenico's, Madison's Cafe, O'Donoghue's, Prison Brews, Mel's Country Cafe, Oscar's Classic Diner and Ecco Lounge.

Desserts will be from Capital Mall Subway, Capital Candy, Chez Monet, Best Dang Cheesecake, Rachel's Downtown Diner, Arris' Bistro and Schulte's Fresh Foods.

Schnucks will provide breads, and Coca-Cola and Fechtel Beverage Company will provide beverages.

Organizers hope this year's fundraiser will raise $6,000.
