1 killed, 2 wounded after shots fired at vehicle in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities say one person has been killed and two others wounded after shots were fired at a vehicle in eastern Columbia.

Police said in a news release that officers responded early Sunday to a panic alarm at a convenience store after a woman entered the business suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding officers found two men wounded. The three victims were taken to a hospital, where 26-year-old Jamar Lamont Hicks, of Boone County, was pronounced dead. The injuries to the other two victims weren't life threatening.

Police say the victims were struck by gunfire from another vehicle. Police are working to identity those involved. Anyone with information is urged to call police or a tips hotline.
