A man and woman in Chamois were arrested Sunday on separate felony warrants.
Osage County Sheriff's deputies had been looking for Michael Gianakis, 51, for some time because he had eluded deputies earlier in June, Sheriff Mike Bonham said. Gianakis' girlfriend, Samantha Kurrelmeyer, 30, was charged in June for hindering prosecution and had an active warrant for her arrest.
Gianakis and Kurrelmeyer were known to live on Tennessee Street in Chamois, and deputies waited for the couple to show up.
A short time later, deputies went inside the residence and found Kurrelmeyer and Gianakis hiding in a bedroom closet. Both were taken into custody without further incident.
As of Monday afternoon, Gianakis was being held on a $15,000 bond and Kurrelmeyer on a $10,000 bond. Additional charges may be forthcoming after review by the Osage County prosecutor.
