Greg Rehagen sworn in as new interim mayor of New Bloomfield

Greg Rehagen has stepped up as the new interm mayor of New Bloomfield. Rehagen was sworn in Jan. 19, during a special meeting of the city council, Ward 2 Alderman Rosemary Augustine said.

Augustine said the previous interm mayor and mayor pro-tem, Paul Hilton, left the role after being offered a job in another state.

"People here are just being blessed with amazing job opportunities," Augustine said. "We are so grateful for the short time we had him."

Hilton filled the position vacated by Mayor Michael Lowe, who stepped down in early January to avoid a potential conflict of interest from his work with the 13th Circuit Court's juvenile division in Fulton.

Augustine said Martha Siegel, the alderman for Ward 2, will serve as the new mayor pro-tem.

Rehagen has declared his intention to run for the office of mayor in the upcoming municipal election April 4.
