Two photographers with a passion for nature - wild and tamed - will soon be featured in a joint exhibit, "Farm and Fowl," at the Art House in Fulton.

"We decided to feature two of our Art House artists that have been pretty successful with their cards," Jane Mudd said, referring to the greeting cards the gallery sells.

Kim Carr takes photographs of animals and the little details of life at her family farm.

"She doesn't always stick to the expected," said Danielle Warren, gallery manager for Art House.

She pointed out one card with a cat holding a mouse in its mouth and another with an open-mouthed opossum crouched in a chicken coop.

"Kim is humorous," said Clarence Wolfshohl, a printer and regular Art House volunteer.

Her focus is on connecting the city and the country, and celebrates life on a small farm, Carr's website said.

"The other one, Laura Pintel, does photography of all sorts of things, but she's also a big birder," Mudd said. "She's really known for her birds."

Pintel has a studio in Columbia. She both paints and takes photographs. Her subjects are varied, but birds feature heavily.

Pintel's photographs are full of bright colors. She uses software to modify some of them for a more artistic appearance, according to her website.

"They have a graphic edge, always," Warren said.

Each artist will be bringing about 15 works, which will be displayed in the center of the gallery.

"We named it 'Farm and Fowl' because they each have these passions," Warren said.

The exhibition opens Jan. 31 and runs until March 4. Warren warned, however, the opening date might be pushed back slightly due to scheduling difficulties.

On Feb. 10, the artists will host a 5:30-7:30 p.m. reception and gallery talk.
