Black Caucus MLK celebration Wednesday

Missouri's Legislative Black Caucus hosts its annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Jefferson City on Wednesday, five days before the national holiday.

Michael Jones, pastor of St. Louis' Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, will be the featured speaker.

New Gov. Eric Greitens, House Speaker Todd Richardson and Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard also have been invited to speak during the program, which begins at 7 p.m. in the state Capitol's First Floor Rotunda.

The program also features the Rev. Cassandra D. Gould, pastor of Jefferson City's Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, and Pastor Adrian Hendricks II, of Jefferson City's Joshua House Church.

And there will be performances by the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church Choir and Lincoln University's Dance Troupe, directed by Theressa Ferguson.

The program is free and open to the public.
